I personally had no expectations about today. I knew that no one would be sending me flowers, candy, or showing up at my door to take me to dinner. And I am completely content with that. I know that my evening includes spending time with friends, drinking wine, maybe some Chinese takeout, and making a cake covered in sprinkles. Yes, I am going to be that person... But to my surprise when I woke up and walked into the kitchen to put on a pot of coffee, swedish fish, my favorite candy, and a card were sitting on top of my coffee maker. That one small gesture made me so happy!
So let's remember the beauty in simplicity. That there is something so perfect about showing someone in the smallest way, that we love them. And for all of you out there expecting a man to confess his love for you, sweep you off your feet, or uncharacteristically tell you all of his feelings, just remember, despite your desire, your life is not a rom com. And you should embrace that. Life is so much more exciting when it's an unpredictable disaster! So enjoy the people you love today without the pressures of society. And most importantly, don't forget that February 14th is only one day. The other 364 days this year, are all perfect times to show someone you love them.
I hope you all have a beautiful day.
