This story is a little late getting out here in the world. But it is very dear to me, so I hope you take the time to read it.
There are certain people you meet in your life, that bring you joy, laughter, and love. Hannah Costello is one of those people. I met her right after my first in college, when we did a summer Americorps internship together. You really get to know the best and worst of people when you are sleeping in cabins, running after children all day, and there is little to no hot water and air conditioning. But despite all of that we found ourselves surrounded by new people, building relationships that will last a lifetime. And I am honored to say that Hannah was one of those people.
About a month ago, Hannah made a beautiful bride, and was married to her love, Jack Costello. They are not only the most adorable couple ever, but they also found a common love, one which they are sharing with the world. But before I get to the good stuff, let me tell you how they got there!

Jack grew up a Navy brat, making his way around the globe, from California to Virginia, Japan, Hawaii, England, Florida and finally back to California. Hannah on the other hand, is originally an East Coast kid, from Providence, Rhode Island and came cross country, to enjoy the sunny state of California as well. And so, in the beautiful city of San Diego, at San Diego State University, there story together began. Hannah's interest in photography started in middle school with an underwater camera, transitioned to taking shots of her friends for fun, and has evolved into an art form. Jack on the other hand, has been filming in high school, and as a kid, when he found out his beloved James Bond was a character in movies, he knew film was what he wanted to do. So together they have created Jack and Hannah, Film & Photography. Together they travel around the country beautifully photographing and filming weddings, landscapes, and the beautiful people all around us. | They work as a unit, inspired by nature and the people they love. Jack with his new ideas, knowledge of the technical side combined with his artistic eye, helps make Hannah's ideas a reality. And she loves seeing what new things she can try! We inspire each other. Her photos get better and better and I feel like I need to step my game up just to keep pace. What most of us novices don't realize, is that filming and photographing is only one small portion of their job. What we don't see is the hours upon hours that they spend pouring over footage and editing photos. And where do they like to spend these hours? Well snuggled up in a blanket obviously, or at one of the many coffee shops San Diego has to offer! Can't you just imagine them sitting there in a coffee shop being all adorable drinking coffee and editing, wishing they could be your best friends? I know me too. |
We think similarly, so we will often have the same ideas for shots. I will be filming something and Hannah will walk into the frame, trying to get the same thing! We have learnt to respect and keep an eye out for one another. When no one is looking we like to do silly dances and make faces at one another while the other is working, its quite funny.
A QUICK Q&A
What are some of your short term and long term goals?J: Short term goals: We want to have a full summer and fall schedule of weddings and really get our website out there for the world to see.
H: Make more time to dedicate to building our business, and exploring my artistic eye.
Long term goals:
J: To have a studio in LA, and only have to work 3 months a year.
H: To support Jack while he makes it big in Hollywood, get my Masters in Social Work, document our explorations to new destinations, and the list goes on...
What has been your favorite wedding thus far?
J: So far our favorite wedding has been for friends in Kansas City, Tori & Christian. We’ve never been there before and loved the city. It wasn’t supposed to snow, but it started right before the ceremony and ended right after the reception. Their wedding was beautiful, it didn’t even feel like work.
H: I completely agree with Jack! And I also loved the engagement shoot for Nic & Olivia, that was all shot in black and white film. They are some of our closest friends, and adore one another so deeply, its so fun to capture!
What is your dream location to shoot?
J: I would love to do a wedding in Morocco, I feel like it’s just a wild and colorful place that would look amazing in a video.
H: I would loveee to shoot a wedding in The Lake District in England, where Pride and Prejudice was filmed!
And isn't quite obvious that my last question would be...
[One day] When I get married will you do my wedding?!
J: We would be honored to do your wedding!

I love traveling with Jack and the ways we work as a team. I am so blessed to have him in my life. He made this business happen, and continues to push me to pursue my dreams, and let nothing hold me back! I was always too fearful to shoot weddings, and I am so glad I had Jack to push me to do it, because it is one of my favorite things on this Earth to capture.
